What? A picture is worth only 1,000 words? Using GIS to present a complete, detailed story.

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

If a picture is worth 1,000 words, then the imagery presented in a GIS Map can say so much more. Development within a community with a sustainable sense of place requires decisions to be made in a timely manner, and equally important, based on solid facts. Significant increases in available data, collection process improvements, and software capabilities, allow a GIS Map image the ability to hold a complete picture upon which to base and present your informed decisions. A well developed GIS can provide the practical planner the information necessary to plan, design, coordinate, maintain, and preserve areas for a more resilient future. This session will focus on improved data development within your GIS that can increase its usefulness in the decision making process. Attendees will learn practical concepts and see real world applications of GIS, developed to store and retrieve information about everything from buildings and infrastructure, to soils, slopes, and population characteristics.
