Planners need to talk about (in no particular order):
* Economic Development. Localities compete against each other; bad or responsive planning follows. Need data on what works, what doesn't.
* Resiliency Planning. Costs to maintain infrastructure as a function of Climate Change.
* Funding Development Areas. To make DAs desirable, localities must fund the sidewalks, roads, amenities, etc. that people want.
* Crumbling Infrastructure. The bill is coming due; what's the plan?
* Access Management/Capacity Preservation. Localities allow access along arterials--especially along rural segments; then people want costly & ineffective solutions, like bypasses.
* A Street Grid Works: How do we overcome public & political refusal to create connections? A series of short connections might be cheaper and more effective than new roads and bypasses.
